Vocational School Building Renovations for Maralik

Maralik, Shirak Marz. The BRIDGE Public Works Program implemented by the Cooperative Housing Foundation International (CHF) and funded by USAID carried out the renovation of the Maralik Vocational School Building during the 2009 program year. The official opening ceremony of the project site took place on January 25, 2010 and was attended by the USAID Social Reform Office Acting Director Volodymyr Yatsenko, Maralik Mayor Artak Gevorgyan, representatives of the Anoushavan Abrahamyan Educational Fund and local community.

The renovation of the Vocational School was made possible thanks to the cooperation and support of the Anoushavan Abrahamyan Educational Fund, which had already renovated the roof of the building, changed the windows and doors and installed a new heating system.

To increase the number of classroom activities, the college needed the renovation of seven rooms and the main foyer (a total of 400 square meters) on the third floor. This floor was completely renovated by the USAID BRIDGE Public Works Program and will serve around 80 students.

The USAID BRIDGE program also organized vocational training for 21 socially vulnerable community members in Painting and Plastering and Tilling. After the completion of the theoretical part of the training course the graduates gained on-the-job experience by renovating three rooms and the foyer floor in the Vocational School under the supervision of the construction contractor
