
Ad-Hoc Group on Vocational Training BRIDGE has initiated and launched an ad-hoc working group on vocational training issues in Armenia, including IIZ DVV (Germany), Global Development Fund (Armenia, TACIS), People in Need (Czech Republic), Anushavan Abrahamyan Educational Fund (AAEF), and UNDP Vocational Training program. Partner organizations exchange news on vocational training activities and partner in programs.
People in Need (PIN) (http://clovekvtisni.cz/indexen.php ) PIN is a Czech organization that provides relief aid and development assistance, while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. PIN supports a local Resource Center in Charentsavan specializing in providing vocational training to local unemployed. In 2007, BRIDGE trained nine persons in painting and plastering, and as part of the practical training renovated three rooms at the Center. In return, the Resource Center undertook to place the vocational training graduates on trade-related jobs in the area.
Anushavan Abrahamyan Educational Fund (AAEF) (http://www.aaefund.org ) AAEF programs in Armenia are focused on improving trade skill education for rural youth that will increase their opportunities for employment. AAEF is currently rehabilitating eleven technical schools throughout Armenia, and providing capacity building and equipment. BRIDGE trained thirteen unemployed persons for AAEF’s renovation of the Hrazdan Technical School, and rehabilitated two rooms at the college as part of the training process. United Nations Development Programme (http://www.undp.am ) The UNDP Performance Budgeting Program carries out training of municipal finance departments to improve budgeting and asset management. In 2006, BRIDGE and UNDP co-financed the rehabilitation of Ijevan City Park – priority for the community and municipality. In 2007, UNDP and BRIDGE co-financed the rehabilitation of the Artik Children’s Art Center. In 2008, UNDP, BRIDGE, USAID LGP3 and the Alaverdi Municipality co-financed the Rehabilitation of the Alaverdi Music School.
Peace Corps (http://www.usa.am/peacecorps.php ) Peace Corps has three goals which are served by volunteers placed in cooperating countries: (a) help the people of interested countries meet their needs for trained men and women; (b) help promote a better understanding of the American people on the part of the peoples served; and (c) help promote a better understanding of the people served on the part of the American people. The US Peace Corps has been active in Armenia since 1992. Under its Environmental Education Project, Peace Corps volunteers provided orientation seminars to project stakeholders and CDC members in 2006 in Sevan, Dilijan and Goris World Vision International (http://www.wvarmenia.am/en/ ) As a support to BRIDGE and UNDP’s renovation of the Ijevan City Park, World Vision built a children’s playground, and provided top soil and seedlings for the entire park. |
